Climate change continues to devastate the entire world and everything within it. Climate change has also altered the temperature of the Earth, causing global warming. The Arctic region has already warmed up by about 10 degrees Fahrenheit since the beginning of 1900. The ice is gradually melting. Animals in the Arctic region such as polar bears and walruses are beginning to lose habitat. If we do not do anything soon, they will cease to exist.

Because of the ice melting in the Earth, the sea level is rising. Soon enough, just like the polar bears and walruses, humans will also lose their habitat.

Here are islands that will cease to exist in the future if climate change continues.

  1. Maldives

Maldives is one of the most popular and beautiful islands in the Indian Ocean. There are a number of luxury resorts and underwater hotels that have captured the eyes and hearts of tourists all around the globe. Unfortunately, with how things are, Maldives will be gone by 2100 if we do not act now.

  • Shishmaref, Alaska

This island located in Alaska is home to around 650 humans. There have been people who have been continuously moving throughout the island because it has been continuously sinking by 100 feet since the year 1997. Sadly, Shishmaref will cease to exist in about 17 years.

  • French Polynesia

French Polynesia is home to tourist destinations such as Bora Bora and Tahiti. While French Polynesia offers crystal clear waters, in the next hundred years, that might be the only thing anyone sees in its location.

  • Fiji

Fiji is known to have crystal clear waters and lots of coral reefs. Unfortunately, due to the rising temperature, the corals are already affected by bleaching. There are already residents of Vunidogoloa, a village in the Pacific Islands of Fiji, that has already relocated due to the rising water.

The future of the whole world is in the hands of each and every human, young or old. Schools should start transitioning to become environmentally friendly schools in order to be able to do something while opening the eyes of the younger generation.
